Model-Based Evaluation of Methods for Respiratory Sinus Arrhythmia Estimation

چکیده
Objective: Respiratory sinus arrhythmia (RSA) refers to heart rate oscillations synchronous with respiration, and it is one of the major representations cardiorespiratory coupling. Its strength has been suggested as a biomarker monitor different conditions, diseases. Some approaches have proposed quantify RSA, but unclear which performs best in specific scenarios. The main objective this study compare seven state-of-the-art methods for RSA quantification using data generated model simulate, control RSA. These are also compared, evaluated on real-life application, their ability capture changes coupling during sleep. Methods: A simulation used create dataset variability, respiratory signals controlled estimation approaches. To objectively applications, regression models trained simulated map estimates same measurement scale. Results, conclusion: based cross entropy, time-frequency coherence, subspace projections showed performance data. In addition, these captured expected trends sleep similarly. Significance: An comparison presented guide future analyses. Also, can be existing, newly estimates. It freely accessible online.

Diminishment of Respiratory Sinus Arrhythmia
Background. The development of a microcomputer-based device permits quick, simple, and noninvasive quantification of the respiratory sinus arrhythmia (RSA) during quiet breathing. Methods and Results. We prospectively and serially measured the radionuclide left ventricular ejection fraction and the RSA amplitude in 34 cancer patients receiving up to nine monthly bolus treatments with doxorubici...
متن کاملA Case-Based Classification of Respiratory Sinus Arrhythmia
Respiratory Sinus Arrhythmia has until now been analysed manually by reviewing long time series of heart rate measurements. Patterns are identified in the analysis of the measurements. We propose a design for a classification system of Respiratory Sinus Arrhythmia by time series analysis of heart and respiration measurements. The classification uses Case-Based Reasoning and Rule-Based Reasoning...
متن کاملDoes respiratory sinus arrhythmia occur in fishes?
The hypothesis that respiratory modulation of heart rate variability (HRV) or respiratory sinus arrhythmia (RSA) is restricted to mammals was tested on four Antarctic and four sub-Antarctic species of fish, that shared close genotypic or ecotypic similarities but, due to their different environmental temperatures, faced vastly different selection pressures related to oxygen supply. The intrinsi...
متن کاملFractal ventilation enhances respiratory sinus arrhythmia
BACKGROUND Programming a mechanical ventilator with a biologically variable or fractal breathing pattern (an example of 1/f noise) improves gas exchange and respiratory mechanics. Here we show that fractal ventilation increases respiratory sinus arrhythmia (RSA) -- a mechanism known to improve ventilation/perfusion matching. METHODS Pigs were anaesthetised with propofol/ketamine, paralysed wi...
متن کاملIndividual differences in respiratory sinus arrhythmia.
To investigate the interindividual differences in respiratory sinus arrhythmia (RSA), recordings of ventilation and electrocardiogram were obtained from 12 healthy subjects for five imposed breathing periods (T(TOT)) surrounding each individual's spontaneous breathing period. In addition to the spectral analysis of the R-R interval signal at each breathing period, RSA characteristics were quant...
